  Destinations Travel Show - 3rd - 6th Feb 2005

Explore the Vibrant Cultures and Regions of the World at Destinations 2005

The Indian Subcontinent, the Middle East, Africa and the Far East are becoming popular travel destinations wth many Britons and second generation Asians looking to experience the land of their forefathers. Without doubt, these regions are some of the world’s most absorbing, vibrant, exotic and full of cultural wealth. So why not explore and experience your roots by visiting Destinations: The Holiday & Travel Show?

Destinations, in partnership with The Daily Telegraph, is the UK’s leading consumer holiday and travel show where you will be able to plan the ultimate getaway. Stop dreaming about your ideal escape because at Destinations, you are destined to find that perfect holiday solution whilst also getting in touch with your cultural roots.

At Destinations, there will be a large number of exhibitors specialising in cultural and exotic escapes, these include Southall Travel, India Tourist Board, Africa Collection, Sri Lanka Tourism and Cox & Kings Travel.

If you are of South-Asian origin then like many second and third generation Asians, you might want to learn more about your country of origin. Destinations provides you with a unique opportunity to discover parts of the Indian Subcontinent, from the rugged beauty of the Himalayas in the North, to the beaches and sleepy backwaters of the South. Let the numerous exhibitors at the show guide you in your preparations, so that you can discover those ornate and magnificent temples and marbled palaces created by your ancestors.

Through the innovative and interactive Destinations Sensations, the essence of different customs and cultures are brought to life through music, dance, food and drink so that you can sample local traditions. These include African head-scarf wrapping, middle-eastern belly dancing and henna demonstrations as well food and drink sampling from across the world.

The Indian Subcontinent has become one of the most favoured destinations for tourists, and so providing visitors to the show with a real taste of the Punjab is key. Make sure you check out the World Entertainment Stage, where traditional bhangra folk music group ‘Asili Bahara Punjab Diya’ will be showing off some truly authentic foot stomping moves, alongside a host of other scintillating cultural performances including the exciting Vietnamese Dragon Dancers and the Japanes Teiko drummers amongst others.

So, whatever you’re planning, from the most adventurous and extreme, to the most relaxing, you’ll find lots of exciting, innovative and refreshing ideas at Destinations. Plus of course, you’ll have the unique opportunity to receive invaluable advice from the hundreds of exhibitors and tourist boards at the show.

Added to this, the Meet the Experts Theatres will feature top travel celebrities and writers including the queen of travel herself Judith Chalmers O.B.E, comedian and author Griff Rhys Jones, explorers Bear Grylls and Ben Saunders and cricket legend David Gower O.B.E.
