Rennu Dhillon- Making the Diffirence - one genius kids & one confident woman at a time RENNU DHILLON – “Be all that you can Be” By Vivek Kumar, SAAFA – email: vivek@saafa.org When does a person feel most accomplished? Successful yet not arrogant, a sense of arrival, yet the desire to confidently strive ahead? The answer is- when one feels a strong sense of self esteem and self worth. So says Rennu Dhillon and rightly too !!. Rennu lives her thoughts and helps others realize their true potential. A person of multiple talents, she conceptualized and is the founder of a unique educational establishment in the US, called Genuis Kids (www.geniuskids.us). This is an accelerated learning center (calling it a school would be doing it an injustice). It is a centre of excellence, where children as young as 18 months old are exposed & taught the skills that traditional schools only can aspire to, effective communication, reading, independent thinking and the ability to express and articulate with confidence. The very qualities that create the leaders of tomorrow. The techniques and methodology are unique and fun. The use of interactive methodology, combined with laughter yoga, music & humor, makes it a relaxed environment to learn in. Be it any human endeavor, the relaxed state of mind is the most positive state to learn and retain. Genius Kids is not about exclusivity, rather as pharmacist, turned corporate recruiter, turned entrepreneur cum coach, Rennu says, ‘It is about taking any child in a challenging & stimulating environment and giving them the gift of self confidence & the love of learning” Being a radio and television host and former fashion model, she has been a practicing the paradigm of poise, public speaking and confidence since her childhood days. This concept of self esteem is something Rennu imparts to adults too, especially women. Rennu has been organizing beauty pageants for over a decade now. So what’s unique about that? Simple! Her contests, unlike the others are not about the outer beauty, she is looking to give a gift that stays- the gift of self esteem. Her NRI Global (www.nriglobal.org) does just that. The contestants go through a very rigorous personality round and the mind is rewarded points too. Even the contestant who does not finish on the podium, experiences a positive change and outlook, at the end of the event. This is probably the only pageant, where the participants are given the status of “delegates.” Her NRI Global also has a “Mrs” section and more power to her for that.” Why should marriage be the end of all development?” This is a concept Rennu fiercely believes in, matter of fact she extends this thought to, “why should any age or stage be the end of human growth.” Rennu has conceptualized an international global competition in India, called Le Visage (www.levisage.us), wherein for the first time India will witness an event a culmination of women from different countries around the world in the theme of Global Fusion. With this in mind, Rennu has a dream- Having succeeded in empowering children and the women, in California; she wants to take her vision to the global stage? Here’s why she is probably the most qualified to do that 1. She has been a global citizen herself. Growing up in the diverse environs of Kenya, Africa, getting her education in the United Kingdom and carving out a professional life for herself and her family in the United States, she has experienced and actually thrived in all the different shades of human interactions. 2. She is all about “staying the course.” Her focus & dedication have been consistent since her inaugural show in 1993. How’s that for “sticking to your belief?” She had gradually and meticulously climbed every ladder, one step at a time. The result has been a solid foundation in both Genius Kids and Global contests. Armed with the above qualities, Rennu wants to open worldwide centers on Public Speaking and Communication. As the world becomes increasingly flat and countries like India and China become more open, the differentiating element on human success is going to be communication, interaction and creativity.
